Jeera Rice And Dal


Jeera Rice and Dal is a good combination dish. No much vegetables needed to prepare it and much easy dish we can prepare any time.

The dry fruits added to the rice gives more taste to it and healthy food and kids like them the most. The Jeera rice I prepared is onion and garlic free. But the dal is prepared using onion and garlic.

Preparation time :  10 mins

Cooking time : 30 mins

Ingredients:

For the Jeera Rice

  1. 1 Cup Basamti rice
  2. 2 Tbsp jeera (cumin seeds)
  3. 2 Tbsp ghee
  4. A pinch hing
  5. 1 tbsp ginger
  6. 4 to 5 cashew nuts finely chopped
  7. 4 to 5 almonds finely chopped
  8. 1 Tbsp pepper powder
  9. 2 Green chillies finely chopped
  10. Salt as per taste
  11. Curry leaves
  12. Fresh coriander leaves

Method:

  • Cook the rice in the  cooker with rice to water ratio 1:2
  • Now take a pan on heater add ghee  add  cashew nuts and almonds and fry till they are golden brown.
  • Add green chillies, curry leaves , ginger , hing and cumin seeds and fry it
  • Add salt and pepper powder and stir it.
  • Now add cooked rice and mix well
  • Garnish it with coriander leaves.
  • Serve hot with dal

Ingredients:

For dal

  1. 1 cup dal
  2. 1 small onion finely chopped
  3. 2 to3 garlic cloves finely chopped
  4. 1 tbsp ginger  finely chopped
  5. 2 green chillies finely chopped
  6. curry leaves
  7. 1 Tbsp mustard seeds
  8. 1 Tbsp turmeric powder
  9. Salt as per taste
  10. 2 Tbsp oil
  11. Fresh coriander leaves to garnish
  12. 1 Tbsp lemon juice

Method:

  • Pressure cook the dal
  • Take a vessel on heater  add oil once hot add mustard seeds allow it to crackle
  • Add garlic, ginger and fry it. Add green chillies, curry leaves  and onion and fry till onion is golden brown
  • Now add the cooked dal and salt and  cook it for 5 to 10 mins.
  • Add lemon juice and garnish it with fresh coriander leaves
  • Serve with Jeera rice
